Again! I hear you say.
The young members of the club (13 – 19) applied to the Youth Capital Fund for a brand new boat, and on Wednesday evening I took a call advising that their application has been successfull and £5008.00 was coming the clubs way!
This application was not as straight forward as the previous ones and it required them to carry out a grueling five minute presentation about their application with five minutes of questions afterwards. East Sussex County Council said, “the application submitted was absolutely fantastic and outshone many entered, and as for their presentation, wow, it was so good. It was that good that they covered most of the questions that had been prepared which left the panel of judges in limbo and had to make up some questions to fill time. They thoroughly deserve the money”.
The plan is to buy the ‘Arancia’ boat which is purpose built for lifesaving and surf conditions (not that we get any!) and is considered the best boat in the world for it’s intended purpose. Pic of boat below..

Well done again guys!

To investigate the possibility of getting a new boat Lionel, Haley and Nick organised a trip to Southbourne to meet Bill the Wessex SLSA Director and test out their Arancia. It was a great day (once we finally got down there!). Lots of questions were asked… about how tough it is, can it take a 4 stoke engine…loads of stuff. Keith, Kirk and I also popped along to have a look at the boat too…. we also got a chance to have a quick run in the boat! just so we didn’t feel too left out…
